So I started reading this super cute fic last night where Gilbert was invited over to this grand gala sorta party thing Francis was throwing in honor of claiming his new territory…uh..Matthew. He wanted Gilbert to meet him but he ends up getting drunk and passing out and not being able to properly introduce them oops. However when Gilbert tries to go to bed that night, he’s rudely awakened by Mattie’s crying over being afraid of the thunderstorm that’s going on outside and baby shenanigans happen. u_u It’s super cute. He tries to calm him down and help him get over his fear of thunder and lightening and then it ends with him being tsundere towards him. “It’s not like you’re super cute or anything, go to bed god.”

Brb, trying not to make inhuman squeeing sounds at 3am.

I’m not even gonna begin with that “awesome” crap. It’s utter bullshit. This war is utter bullshit. There are so many things going on that I can’t even bare to tell West about. I don’t want him to know what they’re doing to our people. I don’t want him to know about those camps either, or what they put me through. I know he’ll find out eventually though and that terrifies me. He believes in these people so much… But if he ever finds out about what they’ve done…about that damned Mengele bastard they sent me to… I just want this all over. I want this war finished and Hitler dead and…and I want West safe.  I just want to go home but that’s been blasted to bits. We’re fighting a losing war. We have been from the start and I know how it’s going to end. I’m not stupid, I know the first thing they’ll do is try and get rid of me. Fritz, you’ll be waiting for me on the other side won’t you?
